In late 2005, the concept of a business directory like no other started taking shape.
Dustin Burchnall, co-founder of the Brandywine A-List, was looking for unique and
creative ways of marketing his business, Art in Motion Automotive Detailing. After
becoming frustrated with the lack of quality and affordable advertising opportunities
in the area, he started to brainstorm effective ways of marketing. He started to
think..."Wouldn't it be nice if there were a business directory that refused all chains
and franchises and focused solely on the needs of the local business owner?" After
realizing that there was no such thing, Dustin set out to create just what he was
looking for.

He mentioned his idea to his now close friend, Matt Ousdahl, and they agreed upon
a partnership. They began discussing ideas and the concept started to grow. Matt
loved the idea of a local business directory, but wanted to surround the directory
with a number of services and resources that would help business owners realize
their potential. As a result, graphic design, web design, web hosting, photography,
and full-color printing are among the many resources now included with membership.
In January of 2006 the Brandywine A-List was born. After a few months of planning,
the site launched to the local business community. In Fall of 2006 it was released to
the public. By mid-2007 it was receiving 121,000+ hits and over 26,000 visitors each
month.

WHY THE BRANDYWINE VALLEY?
The Brandywine Valley is a community rich in culture and heritage. It is home to
thousands of unique, independent businesses. Too often though, these businesses
are overlooked in favor of the perceived cheaper prices and conveniences of “big
box” shopping. Someone needed to stand up and show the masses of the Brandywine Valley what they’re missing by not buying local.

Dustin Burchnall, a co-owner of 2 Fish Group LLC, was born and raised in the Brandywine Valley. As a small business owner himself, Dustin is passionate about encouraging others to support small businesses in this area. He lives in Wilmington with his wife, Jenna.

Matt Ousdahl, a co-owner of 2 Fish Group LLC, is originally from California, but now happily calls the Brandywine Valley home along with his wife, Melissa, who grew up in Wilmington. Matt has a two year-old daughter and a second child on the way.
